Upcoming 2026 Shows:

Friday, July 24–Sunday, July 26, at Resource Mpls.: Dylan Hicks & Small Screens lead a three-night experimental minifest featuring some of my favorite Twin Cities musicians and writers. No advance tickets, and it’s a pay-what-you-can event, and no one will be turned away for lack of bread. You’ll find more details on my social media accounts, but here are the lineups:

Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with music starting at 6:30 p.m.: Friday’s show will start with a set by the songwriter, theater artist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer Kata Fried. That will be followed by a short reading by poet and essayist Halee Kirkwood. After Halee reads on their own, Small Screens will improvise in support of another of their pieces, and then we’ll play a set of my songs. We’ll aim to wrap by 8:45 or around there.

Saturday, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with music starting at 6:30 p.m.: Saturday’s show will start with composer, drummer, scholar, and improviser Davu Seru and composer, keyboardist, electronic artist, and improviser deVon Russell Gray playing duo. That will be followed by a short reading by poet and essayist Micahel Kleber-Diggs. After Michael reads on his own, Small Screens will improvise in support of another of her pieces, and then we’ll play a set of my songs. We’ll aim to wrap by 8:45 or around there.

Sunday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with music starting at 4:30 p.m.: Sunday’s show will start with a set by composer, arranger, trombonist, and bandleader JC Sanford’s EQ, an acousto-electric quartet also featuring Toivo Hannigan, Erik Fratzke, and Ben Ehrlich. That will be followed by a short reading by novelist, essayist, and critic Patrick Nathan. Then, Small Screens will play a set of my songs. We’ll aim to wrap by 6:45 or around there.
